**Aguas Arriba Lodge (Lago del Desierto, Southern Patagonia)**

The dramatic snow-capped mountains and deep valleys of Argentine Patagonia set the phenomenal scene for Aguas Arriba Lodge, a remote rustic-luxe log cabin beside Lago del Desierto with direct access to the 1400 acres of private property and 900 metres of shoreline, it offers a very exclusive experience featuring small, rocky beaches. Reachable only by boat or via a three-hour trek, you’ll spot glaciers, waterfalls, pristine rivers en route before arriving at this spectacularly secluded retreat with just five well-appointed guest rooms, sumptuous comfort, and wide-open spaces filled with natural light. It’s all about nature, privacy and simplicity here; a place where guests are compelled to succumb to sheer serenity with only the gentle sounds of the lake’s lapping water below or wind whispering through the surrounding forest interrupting the silence. With acres of trails and forest to explore, this is a particularly desirable destination for hikers, but also for birdwatchers and photographers. There are many private and untouched trails in the vicinity lasting anything between one to eight hours to explore with the trekking guides. Keen anglers love the fly-fishing opportunities for rainbow trout while others prefer to partake in yoga or meditation on the deck or domo facing the cinematic vistas of Mount Fitz Roy and Vespigiani Glacier beyond. All the while, “grandma’s recipes” are served up in the lodge’s dining room prepared from fresh, natural and local ingredients.

**Estancia El Bordo de las Lanzas (Salta, Northwest Region)**

El Bordo de las Lanzas, a 400 year old estancia shadowed by the Andes, is an excellent option for discovering northern Argentina, a fascinating and colorful land full of history and traditions. Located 37 miles to the east of Salta city, is one of the country's most historic estancias.

Its colonial roots date from 1609, when Salta ́s patriot, General Martin de Güemes led his Gaucho cavalry to victories over the Spaniards during the War of Independence, and still remains in this descendant ́s hands.

El Bordo de las Lanzas building presents a pure Spanish colonial style, thus, being one of the best examples of colonial rural architecture in all Salta. It holds an outstanding and lordly collection of colonial furniture, revealing a part of history in ever corner. Cozy romos decorated with religious paintings and furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries. Its owners, the Arias family, descendants of the patrician families that have lived in this property for centuries, are excellent hosts. The food features local and natural delights: “empanadas”, “carbonada”, “asado” and exotic home-made jams made with organic products produced in the farm.

Argentine-Peruvian Paso horses are also bred in the farm and you can go for a ride with the “Gauchos' through the Woodland and along the natural reserve,  to the different crop plantations and beef cattle breeding.
